Ruby was raised in a cult. Her childhood was full of abuse. That abuse continues as the book begins. Sexual assault and sexual coercion are discussed but not depicted on the page. She is traumatized and suffers from panic attacks. Her alphas deal with that in different ways. Luther also comes from a history of trauma.

Food is used as a manipulation tool in both Luther and Ruby’s past.

Once the extent of the abuse is discovered, the alphas make some violent and questionable decisions.
